We are finally free of diapers in our house. The last of the kids potty trained a while ago actually. But my 4 year old still struggles with night-time accidents. He sleeps so soundly that he can’t help but have accidents occasionally. We’ve been struggling for a while with what to do to keep him dry at night. We can’t just let him sleep in underwear because every few nights he’ll have an accident, soaking the sheets and himself. We’ve been putting him in pull-ups at night but he hates them. He says he’s a big boy and doesn’t need diapers anymore. Finding a solution has been a serious pain.
Recently though, I discovered a great new product I hadn’t ever heard of before – Huggies GoodNites Disposable Bed Mats. I though they sounded like a great concept but I wondered how well they would work. Would my son sleep on them and could they keep the bed dry?
We went shopping for Huggies GoodNites Disposable Bed Mats at Walmart and tried them out for the first time – you can see more photos of our Walmart shopping trip in my Google+ album. When I opened up the package of GoodNites Bed Mats I was pleased with how they looked and felt. They are just the right size – large enough to cover the important areas but not so large that they become cumbersome. They are a soft material and don’t have the obnoxious plastic sound I feared they would have. They won’t be keeping my son up, thank goodness. My favorite part of the mats is the stickies on each corner that keep the mat in place. My son is an alligator at night so the stickies are definitely needed.
The biggest test for the GoodNites mats was whether Owen would be willing to sleep on them. He’s pretty picky and it wouldn’t do any good having the mats if he wouldn’t use them. So I got him ready for bed and showed him the new mats. But luckily he climbed into bed and settled right in. We read his nighttime books and he settled in for the night. I asked Owen what he thought of them and he game me two thumbs up – success! With the GoodNites mats Owen can still be a big boy sleeping in underwear but I can keep my sheets safe from the occasional accident.
If you have kids that are ready to potty train or are still having occasional accidents I recommend you check out the Huggies GoodNites Disposable Bed Mats. They are great for home, grandma’s house, hotels, or anywhere you need them. My sister used these for my sister and they really did save the sheets.
Owen looks pleased with his new bed mats! I’m glad they are working well for your family!

I wish they would have had these when my daughter was little. I spent countless hours washing her sheets each day due to accidents. She would sleep through wetting the bed and it drove me crazy. Thank goodness she finally out grew that phase.
Ooooh yay! I love the idea of the mats. And soon we’ll be working on my 3 year old for potty training. And this is going to help a ton!!!

My son has allergies and when they act up + he gets “used” to his allergy medicine, accidents start happening. So I take him off the medcne, switch him to a different one and the accidents stop. But this is a good way to help a big boy handle those oops.
