I am always on the hunt for fun activities and crafts to do with kids. With the arrival of spring, and school soon to get out we all need to gather ideas for ways to keep the kids entertained. These little creatures are one of my favorite activities to do with kids. They are easy to make, the supplies are easy to find, and they are cheap! The kids love getting creative with them and they turn out so cute.
chenille wires or pipe cleaners
All of these can be picked at your local Walmart or Target. The googly/wiggly eyes, feathers, and wires can be found in many forms at your local craft store. The pop scrubbers usually come in a bag and are at any dollar store, super market, or mega-store.
Cut some of the wires into halves and thirds, and leave some full length. The pop scrubbers allow the wires, feathers, and even the eyes to be stuck in them and stay put fairly well. Just wrap one of the plastic loops around the eyes to hold them on, but if they give you trouble you can glue them on.
Kids of all ages will enjoy creating interesting creatures. If they have a hard time getting started see if they can work to make the strangest creature. Soon they will be building and rebuilding a million different combinations of creatures. You can also think of other new items to add in, or use specific colors for various holidays. Offering different size feathers and google eyes adds to the fun. These are perfect to set up on a craft table at parties and events.
So get creative and see what new creatures will arrive in your house!
