With four kids I am constantly in a battle to keep their teeth as healthy as they can be, and I will admit my oral care routine could use some help too. In the morning, as we get ready for school, and at night when we get ready for bed, our house is shear chaos. Shuffling four kids through the bathrooms while I am trying to get ready myself is a nightmare, and things are definitely missed. Did you know there are more germs in your mouth that there are people on the Earth? That is just disturbing! If you are brushing alone, you are missing about 75% of the germs! I brush regularly and use floss, but I don’t always use mouthwash, and that means there are lots of germs still hanging out in my mouth. My kids brush but don’t use rinse either. For my 6 year old I have to fight to get him to even use toothpaste! We need this challenge in our house to get us all on track with our oral health.
Having kids I knew getting them on board with this challenge would not be easy. But when the box from Listerine arrived I found it was easier than I expected. The kids immediately noticed the Phineas & Ferb picture on the outside and wanted to tear into the box. When they spotted the Perry toothbrush and mouthwash they tried to steal them away. Boy was that smart of Listerine! Without the characters I may have had more of a fight on my hands.
Starting this week we are embarking on a 21 Day Challenge to improve our oral health. We are doing this not only to help ourselves but to also help those in need.
