Did you know that this week is the National Boys & Girls Club Week? This week is dedicated to teaching people about all the wonderful programs Boys & Girls Club offers. Before last year I had no idea just how many programs the Boys & Girls Club offers, but now two of my kids attend their programs and next year all four of them will!
Currently two of my children attend a robotics club after school. Guess who sponsors it? The local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club! Here they have several different programs that they offer at the local schools, including dance, martial arts, various sports, robotics, and more. They are also active on our local military base offering programs in conjunction with the MWR and SAS (recreation and child care programs). Next year I will be attending nursing school full time and my two younger kids will be attending the before school program they offer here. We use the Boys & Girls Club here for multiple different activities and every single one has been amazing! I never knew they had so many different activities and programs.
This week, April 7th – April 13th, is National Boys & Girls Club Week! Now is the time to Open the Door and Take the Tour. Local communities, i.e. you, are encouraged to visit a local Club and see the magic happening behind their blue doors. I think you will be amazed at what you find. In addition to opening their doors to everyone, Clubs across the country will plan fun daily activities for Club members, their parents and the entire neighborhood to enjoy. These events include teen forums, carnivals, health fairs and so much more. Many Boys & Girls Club leadership and service groups (such as Torch and Keystone Clubs for tween and teen Club members) also use the week as a chance to give back to the community by volunteering at homeless shelters or assisted living facilities.
If you can’t physically tour a Boys & Girls Club, you can always check one out virtually. Just click to take a virtual tour of a Club. It’s a great way to get introduced to what he Boys & Girls Club offer without leaving your couch.
Be sure to look online to find out where your local Boys & Girls Club is located. You will be surprised to find just how many their are, and how many programs they offer. This week is the perfect time to head on over there and see just how much your Boys & Girls Club offers. For more information on how you can help support National Boys & Girls Club Week be sure to visit the website of the Boys & Girls Club of America.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
